Alice Carter (nee Melissa Moretti, formerly Sangster) is the daughter of Jack Harknessand former Italian Torchwood Three operative Lucia Moretti. She lives with her son, Jack's grandson, Steven – who, like every child in the world, is briefly taken over by the 456. She appears in part one when Jack visits her and wants to do some tests on Steven. Then, Alice tells her father to leave, and he does to visit Dr Rupesh. Alice's son, Steven, thinks Jack is his uncle. In 1977, Alice was put into cover by her mother, Lucia, who died in 2006. In hiding, Alice's parents were recorded as James and Mary Sangster, however the government knew they did not exist. In part three Johnson and her men take Alice and Steven into custody to use against Jack.
