Ida Scott was part of the crew on Krop Tor researching the black hole known as K37 Gem 5.

Ida Scott was the science officer in the Walker Expedition and was researching the previous civilization who enabled the planet to orbit a black hole and trying to discover the power source that was holding the planet in orbit. She also accompanied the Doctor down into the pit within the planet. (DW: The Impossible Planet)
She was rendered unconscious and suffered mild oxygenstarvation because her oxygen supply ran out, but luckily she was rescued by the Doctor and reunited with her crew. (DW: The Satan Pit)

She also is faithful to her crew and takes it hard to face that on of the members of her crew had attacked other members. She also becomes faithful and loyal to the Doctor and Rose as she starts to take orders from them.
