References

  • Captain van Volk calls the Doctor the Oncoming Storm.
  • The Doctor says he's old enough to be Kate's great-great-great-great-great grandfather, times ten. Kate retorts that it's nothing compared to the size of his ego.
  • Clara defends the size of her flat by saying she lives on second-year teacher's wages.
  • Osgood and some of her colleagues intend to see Interstellar.
  • Clara used to drive a Mini.
  • Rassilon cubes were devised by Rassilon as a form of incarceration. The Doctor was once locked in one and it took him six months to break free. Kate calls it a Rubik's cube.
  • Amongst the Doctor's items in the TARDIS is the Ghostbusters-esque device from TV: The Caretaker.
  • The Doctor has spare sonic screwdrivers and gives one to Clara.
  • The Doctor calls Kate "Brigadier", alluding to her late father.

Notes

  • Hinchcliffe Avenue in Schoreditch is likely a reference to Doctor Who producer Philip Hinchcliffe.
  • The Doctor has a toy of Mrs. Tinkle from AAAGH! comic strips.
