In 1758, Clockwork Droids from the 51st century attacked Versailles after Madame de Pompadour turned thirty-seven, as warned by Rose Tyler five years before. The Tenth Doctor rescued Madame de Pompadour and began to make plans for living out his life in the 18th century, as he had no way to return to his TARDIS. When Madame de Pompadour showed him a way back, he offered her a chance to travel in the TARDIS and promised to return for her. It was the last time she saw him. (TV: The Girl in the Fireplace)
