What if Danny Pink is not the grandparent of Orson Pink from Listen? I will try to outline this theory as best as I can, but the big idea is that Rupert Pink and Danny Pink are two separate people, brothers or cousins or some relation. -In Listen, Clara goes out on a date with Danny. The Doctor then visits her and takes her away to investigate his theory. -They then travel to a children's home, where Clara meets "Rupert Pink." Rupert then says he does not like his name, and wants to change it. He then tells Clara about Dan the Soldier Man, which Clara interprets as meaning Rupert will grow up to be Danny. After a run-in with a monster (which is never explained, but could be the real Danny), the Doctor erases Rupert's memory and gives him a nice dream about "Dan the Soldier Man". My theory about "Dan the Soldier Man" is that Dan is actually Rupert's brother. Now obviously, the Doctor said the timing was correct, meaning the year they landed in was a year Clara would be a child. There are two explanations for this. One is that the Doctor was wrong about when they landed, or wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey. -Clara then returns to her date with Danny. After mentioning the name Rupert, Danny quickly becomes suspicious of where Clara learned the name. It's possible this is because Danny is not Rupert, but rather his brother. In this scene, Danny does not have the toy soldier that both Rupert and Orson had, which seems to me as meaning that Danny and Orson may not be related. -Clara and the Doctor then go to the future, where they meet Orson, who looks just like Danny. Orson also has the toy figurine, and says it was passed down from his great-grandparents. Clara interprets this as meaning that Orson is related to Danny, and even mentions this to the Doctor later. After taking the figurine from Orson, she then leaves it for the Doctor in the past as a reminder. -Clara's visit to the Doctor basically gave the Doctor his whole philosophy. As we saw in the end of Death in Heaven and Last Christmas, the Doctor's philosophy seems intact. This means that the events in Listen must have occurred, and Orson must still exist even though Danny died. It's also interesting how we only see Rupert and Orson with the figurine, not Danny or the Doctor. Well, I hope you all like my crazy theory. August Booth 18:09, August 9, 2015 (UTC)
