Sun Yat Sen was a political leader and revolutionary in early 20th century China. In 1911, he was the leader of an alliance of nationalist warlords which overthrew the young Chinese Emperor Pu Yi. The alliance formed into the Kuomintang and became the governing party of China, with Sun Yat Sen at its head.
Chiang Kai-shek later succeeded Sun Yat Sen as the leader of the Kuomintang. (PROSE: The Shadow of Weng-Chiang)
