The Green One
For general advice about or against edits being done by the recipient, ie letting them know their edits violate policies or whatever without actually issuing them with a warning; thus usually for mild offences.

The Yellow One
This one is a warning, but usually a lenient warning used in the event of generally mild, typically first-time offences, or second-time milder offences if a green warning was previously used, or if it has been long enough since a previous existing yellow warning.

The Orange One
A strict warning, used either after a yellow warning was ignored or used straightaway if the offence was bad enough. Usually the final warning before a block if offences continue.

The Red One
Used to tell people they have been blocked for however long a time, either after an orange warning was ignored or straightaway if the offence was bad enough. The red message also appears to blocked people if they try to edit a page while blocked.
