How goes it?[[edit source]]

What's the progress on this and the other home media/video articles? Just curious. ----Ebyabe (talk) 04:11, March 2, 2015 (UTC)

This is User:SmallerOnTheOutside's project, so your best bet is to ask him on his talk page. If he's abandoned the project, then it may have to be brought to the forums again, as most of those who participated before are now rarely here. Right now, this page is a prototype, not a wiki-agreed template for similar articles. Shambala108 05:06, March 2, 2015 (UTC)
The project is not abandoned, I assure you. I will get back to it quite soon, and then finally roll them all out at once, as soon as I find the time again. If anyone has any suggestions or criticisms in the meantime, though, feel free to let me know.

My suggestion is to let the wiki as a whole preview one article and get their approval and/or suggestions before creating all the articles. Shambala108 00:38, September 7, 2015 (UTC)

Count me in[[edit source]]

So this is the fabled project for bringing order to various home video releases over the years. I've heard about it several times, now I finally found it. I just wanted to let SOTO and other current participants know that I've been slowly adding information on digital releases of (so far) pre-Wales Doctor Who to the individual story pages. If this project is realised in its current form, it may necessitate moving my additions to separate pages. Thus, I propose my assistance in the matter and would be happy to help with the project in general. By the same token, please let me know if what I'm doing on individual pages can be adjusted to make the implementation of this project easier. Amorkuz 12:51, August 18, 2016 (UTC)

Well, the templates which previously supported the "current set-up" have since been deleted because of Wikia changed that according to CzechOut made them unsalvageable, so really, unfortunately, the whole project would have to be restarted.

Maybe this time we could get the input of the wiki as a whole instead of just one user. Shambala108 02:49, August 20, 2016 (UTC)

Country specifics[[edit source]]

While I have little knowledge about VHS, DVD and Blueray releases, I've developed a reasonable understanding of how iTunes and BBC Store operate (RIP Hulu), as well as Netflix (which still carries the Wales Doctor Who titles outside of the US). I only start exploring Amazon Video. One of the questions I've been having is which countries should be covered in this English-language Wiki. For DVDs it seems to be divided into UK, US/Canada, and Australia, but there are more options in the digital stores. Is it based on the language of the country or on the language of the released video (iTunes in France and Germany release classic Doctor Who in English)? This is becoming an issue for me because Amazon has regional stores in languages I just cannot read in (I hope they just don't have Amazon Video but I can't be sure). I suggest you bring this up on Board:The Panopticon. I can think of two issues that are remotely related to this issue, but I'm not sure if they apply here.
  1. We don't allow actor ages on pages because it would require constant maintenance to update it. This could apply to these downloading/streaming sites if they constantly remove/add stories.
  2. For the dates of release pages, we only allow the original airing: UK for most stories, US for Miracle Day. I'm not sure if this would apply to the downloading of different language versions.
Like I said, I don't know if either of those rules would apply here, and a forum thread might garner more attention to answer your questions. Shambala108 02:49, August 20, 2016 (UTC)

Prop delete[[edit source]]

I've added the prop delete tag to this page, as it's been admitted by User:SOTO, the creator, that it is unsalvageable, and there has been no work done on it for two years. Shambala108 02:49, August 20, 2016 (UTC)
