Prior to this announcement, there were reports circulating that the character of Amy Pond would be an alien and that the actress would be covered in prosthetic makeup. In fact, this was simply a joke blog entry posted by the Doctor Who Information Network, based in Canada [2]
In the south wales echo showed pictures of amy arresting the doctor in a poilce woman outfit.
