Montgomery Bus Boycott

The Montgomery Bus Boycott was an historical event in civil rights history. Started by Rosa Parks in Montgomery, Alabama on December 1st, 1955, the boycott was enacted by black bus passengers throughout Montgomery, who refused to use the segregated bus services for over a year.

The boycotts were successful. Racial segregation on buses in Montgomery ended by law on December 21st, 1956, ushering in the Civil Rights Movement, led by Martin Luther King. (TV: Rosa)
