The Cult of the Black Pyramid were a secrety society of Humans.
They were centered around the worship of the Osirian known as Horus and denounced Sutekh as a false god. The aim of the cult was to find the Eye of Horus and locate the Black Pyramid in order to release their god. After the discovery of the jeweled scarab in 2541, Anwar Nazir who was the leader of the Cult of the Black Pyramid journeyed to the resting place of Horus in order to awaken the ancient being. However, he discovered that Horus had died long ago in c1500AD after a failure in his sacrophagus's life support system.
This allowed the Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith to defeat the cultists and help end the threat they posed. (VD: Scarab of Death)
