A vulgle was a species of large bird. It appeared to be a cross between a vulture and an eagle.
A vulgle was kept in a zoo on Earth in the 22nd century. At that facility, the Tenth Doctor was once surrounded by escaped lions whilst tackling a Dalek incursion. He escaped on the back of the vulgle. The Dalek, who was trying to transport the Krikoosh by containment field, was slowed to the point that the vulgle could keep pace. As a result, the Doctor was able to follow to a building guarded by other Daleks. With the vulgle's help, the Doctor rescued the Krikoosh. (COMIC: Flight and Fury)
