Rose Leclerq was and alien from the planet Proscenia who worked as an actress on Earth in 1895. She played the role of Lady Bracknell in Oscar Wilde's play The Importance of Being Earnest at its first performance on 14 February of that year. Working undercover for her people, Leclerq hypnotised the audience using a laughter ray and sent them into debilitating uncontrollable laughter after delivering her funniest line. She intended to use this sound as a signal to Proscenia to invade the Earth, but was stopped when the Sontaran warrior Strax knocked her unconscious with her own handbag prop. (PROSE: The Importance of Being Strax)
