Beck's Syndrome was a deadly disease. George suffered from the illness and went to Tranquil Repose, where he was put into suspended animation. Prior to this, he started a fund to find a cure for the disease. His wife eventually found one 40 years before Davros took over Tranquil Repose, but she pretended she hadn't to keep the fund money.
