The Trail of Tears was the name given to the forced migration of five Native American tribes including the Seminole from the Southern United States to the Indian Territory after the Indian Removal Act was signed. Thousands of Native Americans died to cold, disease and hunger during the march. The Seminole had been driven westward by 1832, and by Spring 1880, the Seminole had lived in the Indian Territory for fewer than fifty winters. (COMIC: The Parliament of Fear)
