In an alternate timeline, Varx was a looter in Kiria City on Urbinia when the Daleks invaded the planet with the Time Destructor.

Varx and his partner-in-crime Piril believed they would never be given priority in the evacuation and instead used the chaos as an opportunity to loot phason pods from the abandoned streets so they could go into hiding. They encountered Jamie McCrimmon and Katarina. After Varx caught Katarina, Jamie knocked Piril unconscious to protect her and sent Varx fleeing.

At the end of the invasion, the Second Doctor averted the change in the timeline by ensuring his previous incarnation arrived on Kembel to prevent the Time Destructor's completion. (AUDIODaughter of the Gods)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Ian Crowe gave Varx a voice inspired by Bill Sikes from filmed adaptations of Oliver Twist. Max Keeble, who voiced Piril, played off Crowe to portray the characters as a kind of double act. (BFX: Daughter of the Gods)
