Vladimir Lenin

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin was a central figure in communism. During the Spanish Civil War, a barracks was named after him in support of the communist cause. (PROSE: History 101) The Eighth Doctor claimed to have played him at tiddlywinks whilst sharing an overnight train journey from Switzerland to Petrograd, and considered him to have a "remarkable mind". Lenin wore mauve pyjamas. (AUDIO: Storm Warning) He was an avid cricket follower during his fourteen year exile in London, spending much of his summer days at Lord's. (PROSE: The Devil Goblins from Neptune) The Fifth Doctor said Lenin was a disagreeable man with terrible breath. (AUDIO: Singularity)

Rose Tyler surmised from a group of Russians in London in 1924 that they wanted to "kick out Lenin and co. and reclaim their lost lands". (PROSE: The Clockwise Man)

Behind the scenes

Lenin was played by Kenneth Cranham in the BBC miniseries Reilly: Ace of Spies.
