Sometime before The Eighth Doctor and company's visit to the planet; Thakrash was a part of the Slow Empire. However, the piece of the Transferrence Network connecting Thakrash to the rest of the Slow Empire eventually failed and the citizens of Thakrash rebelled against their former rulers (PROSE: The Slow Empire)
