Jason Kane's grandfather (on his mother's side) was given a silver crucifix by his wife before he fought in Normandy in 1944. The crucifix killed him when he was shot, inspiring Jason to line his jacket with layers of long-chain polycarbon micromesh. (PROSE: Death and Diplomacy)
