Captain West was the commander of an Interplanetary Chemical Mining Company ship in 2066.
As the ship neared Syntex, West was informed that they were unable to make contact with the planet and, after determining it to be deserted, ordered for someone to get him Space City on the communications. West was told by Commander Zero to wait in orbit until Steve Zodiac and Fireball XL5 arrived. When XL5 got to Syntex, West went down to the planet surface to investigate in Fireball Junior with Zodiac, Professor Matic and Venus. After the missing ten man construction crew was discovered, one dead and the rest on the brink of insanity, West ordered his ship to land and escorted the survivors aboard. He later sent for a vehicle to carry "a passenger" for Fireball to the ship before both crafts left Syntex to return to Earth. (COMIC: The Syntex Mystery)
