Count Grendel of Gracht was a Taran count and cousin of Tara's rightful ruler prince Reynart, who he had imprisoned along with princess Strella. He made a plan to become king of Tara. His plan was revealed by the Doctor and Romana, and he was defeated in a swordfight by the Doctor. Following this, he was exiled by Reynart. (DW: The Androids of Tara) Grendel later returned, repairing and allying himself with the Kandy Man, who had faced the Doctor in his seventh incarnation.
