The Princess of Aldermar was a play written by Retorian Mellenger during the Chevallion Era. It chronicled the tale of Princess Oralissa, who was obliged to enter into an arranged marriage with either Prince Benedek or Duke Stephon of the neighbouring kingdoms. While both of her suitors quickly fell in love with her, Oralissa herself proved unwilling to make an immediate choice, which led to the two men engaging in a duel to the death for her hand.

An interactive holographic version ran on a continuous loop on Esselven Minor, repeating every ten days. When the people who started the program all died, there was no one to deactivate it. The play thus went on uninterrupted for five hundred years, repeating approximately every ten days. During this time, the hologram of Oralissa developed sentience, developing a sense of how she was stuck in a loop until the cycle was broken. (PROSE: Palace of the Red Sun)
