Epsilon the Watcher was a legendary Sun Builder. On Gendar, a planet whose inhabitants worshipped the Sun Builders as gods, he was considered one of the more important deities, alongside Urizen the Architect, Vala the Herborist, and a Trickster God of many names. Maxie Masters mentioned this fact to Giles. (PROSE: Out of the Box)

Behind the scenes

Although Out of the Box was the character's first mention in any published media, the copyright page of Out of the Shadows clarified that the character was not created by Aristide Twain, but that his copyright was instead held by Toby Price. On the said copyright page, his moniker was given as "Epsilon the Eternal", rather than "Epsilon the Watcher" as in the actual text of Out of the Box.
