Electric current, also known as electrical current or just current, was a measure of charge transfer. It could be measured in kiloamperes. (TV: Last of the Time Lords) Power cables could carry current, which could then be diverted to devices such as frequency projectors. (TV: The Pirate Planet) A current of 58.5 kiloamperes could transfer a charge of 510 megajoules. (TV: Last of the Time Lords)

Measurement of current and PDs using an ammeter and voltmeter could be used to determine the electrical power going through a coil of microwire. (TV: School Reunion)

According to Laurence Scarman, electric current could be "highly dangerous". (TV: Pyramids of Mars) The Second Doctor noted that current running through an electrified London Underground rail could fry a person. (TV: The Web of Fear)

Alternating current and direct current were types of electric current. Nikola Tesla's Wardenclyffe laboratory was designed to send electric current through the earth and into the air. (TV: Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror)
