Edwin Bracewell was an Android made by the Daleks after they landed in 1941. He was a cover up and was placed in a War Room alongside Winston Churchill. He was unaware of his origins and was implanted with memories of a human life and the creation of the Daleks as a weapon called an 'Ironside' for Britain.
When Churchill summonded the Doctor and Amy Pond to his base, the Doctor did not like what he saw - as they were using Daleks his enemy. He angered the Daleks and the Daleks revealed their true nature exterminating someone, then blasting Bracewell's hand off. The Doctor then went to confront the Daleks and foiled their original plan. In retaliaition they were going to use Bracewell to blow up and destroy Churchill's base. The Doctor came back and he and Amy Pond managed to deactivate the bomb and give Bracewell a reason to live. The Daleks had however managed to escape.
Afterwards Bracewell presumably lead a normal human life. (DW: Victory of the Daleks)
