The HMS Atropos was a ship of unknown design in the Royal Navy. It was in active use throughout the 19th century.
Former Marine Charles Gaskell remembered being stationed on the Atropos in Portsmouth, when the ship received a visit from Admiral Henry Montague. (PROSE: The Baby Farmers)
Notes
The vessel is a reference to the Horatio Hornblower novels: the fifth story had him command a sloop called HMS Atropos.
