During the broadcast of Series 3 of Doctor Who in 2007, a series of fictional blog posts written from the perspective of Martha Jones were published on MySpace. They were written by Joseph Lidster. They contained references to not only the television episodes featuring Martha but also some BBC New Series Adventures novels which were released to tie-in with Series 3.

Due to changes to MySpace, and the account being deleted, these blogs can no longer be viewed on the MySpace website, although fan-hosted archives can be found on the internet.[1]

Summary

The first entry!

Martha introduces herself, her job and colleagues, a bit about why she is becoming a doctor, and her family's... presence.

The family get-together…

The Jones family (extended) went out for a "proper celebration" of Tish's new job, leading to a screaming fight.

An odd day.

Martha saw a patient die, supported Julia after her fiance dumped her, and muses on whether she'll always be drawn to friendships where she's just an emotional support whose feelings aren't considered.

The calm before the storm…

Notes

  • In the final line of the blog, Martha notes that she's been offered a job, and that the reader "wouldn’t believe who it’s from". This was likely meant to foreshadow Martha's job at UNIT and her presence in the spin-off Torchwood.
  • In return for Lidster referencing the novel The Pirate Loop in the blog, Simon Guerrier added a mention of the MySpace blog to The Pirate Loop.[2]
