Tom Cheynor was a student at the University of Oxford. He was also an ancestor of Darius Cheynor.
The Seventh Doctor took him to the 24th century to evade the Garvond. However, it still was able to use him as a Time Focus to fully manifest itself. The Doctor managed to separate the two and imprison the Garvond in the book The Worshipful and Ancient Law of Gallifrey. He then returned Tom to Oxford. (PROSE: The Dimension Riders)
