Tollund was a Chlorian engineer. He and Doran were both tasked by Lady Adrasta with identifying the function of the Tythonian ship.
To that end, Tollund disproved the theory that it was an egg, as a bird large enough to lay it would have to have a wingspan of a mile at least. He told the Fourth Doctor that Doran had conclusively determined that the ship was the remains of an ancient temple. He hid before Doran was thrown into Erato's pit. (TV: The Creature from the Pit)
