Doctor Who: The Adventure Games is a series of 4 graphic adventure video games set to be released in conjunction with Series 5 on the official website. Both the Daleks and Cybermen are set to appear. The games will be released starting June 2010.

Details regarding the games were announced on 21 April 2010. The games are being produced in conjunction with the Doctor Who TV production team, with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan lending their voices and likenesses to the games. In announcing the games, series producer Piers Wenger indicated that they will be considered episodes 14 through 17 of Series 5, though whether they ultimately are considered part of the canon has yet to be confirmed[2], though indications are that they in fact are.[3] Each Episode has Collectible Cards marked with a DW,

Footage of the games was shown after Victory of the Daleks, revealing one "episode" would involve the Daleks and a destroyed London in 1963 with the tagline Fight The Daleks. This first game title has been confirmed as City of the Daleks, by Phil Ford, was initially announced as being available as of 5th June.[4]

It has been confirmed that the Cybermen will appear as a main villain in one episode. These Cybermen are missing the Cybus logo and have a different logo. These Cybermen could be the original Cybermen.

Also as-yet unconfirmed is whether the games will be available outside the United Kingdom, given the fact most video- and game-related material hosted on the BBC's official website is restricted to UK users.

A picture of a Cyberman on the Adventure games mini site is named "Winter of Terror". This could be the name of the second adventure game.

Availability

The first of the games, City of the Daleks, was released for download via the BBC's official Doctor Who website on 2nd June 2010 for PCs - several days earlier than the originally announced release date of 5th June; a Macintosh version is scheduled for delayed release on 15th June 2010.[5]

At present, the first game is only available in the UK, with free downloads restricted to users in that country. The first game is scheduled for commercial release internationally at some point in July 2010.[6] It is not yet known whether this commercial release will be for just the first game, or an omnibus of all the games. The BBC has also not announced what cost will be attached, or whether the games will be made available on physical media for purchase.

No release dates have been announced as of 3rd June 2010 for the remaining games in the series.
