A bin, dustbin, rubbish bin or garbage bin was a small, cylindrical container for rubbish, used on Earth.

Daleks were frequently compared to dustbins by their enemies as an insult. Dortmun called the Daleks "motorised dustbins" during the 22nd century invasion of Earth. (TV: The Dalek Invasion of Earth [+]Loading...["The Dalek Invasion of Earth (TV story)"]) Jane Davis-Hunt decried the Dalek Supreme on Balbo as a "gold-plated dustbin". (TV: Dalek [+]Loading...["Dalek (TV story)"])

Behind the scenes

  • The garbage bin is an object with an unlikely resonance to Doctor Who imagery due to the frequent observation that the Dalek casing bears an unfortunate resemblance to certain types of rubbish bins and dustbins. This likeness was used as a joke in several licensed Doctor Who spoofs, such as Regeneration of a Dalek.
