Can we continue?
The article was locked and reverted to its original form two months ago, and has been unlocked for almost a month. Can we re-enter the information and update with more (if there is anything new to report, that is) at this point?
--SOTO ☎ 08:37, July 28, 2013 (UTC)
Well, at least it doesn't have any story arc spoilers. And BBC hasn't announced any, so we're in luck.
Filming start needs to be corrected
It's been announced that filming begins on 6th January 2014, not in December, so that needs to be corrected. Presumably, since the 6th is tomorrow, an official announcement from the BBC will be issued that can be used as a source. 68.146.70.124talk to me 05:30, January 6, 2014 (UTC)
- "It's been announced"? By whom? If you give me a source, I'll add it to the page.
--SOTO ☎ 05:35, January 6, 2014 (UTC)
Today is January 6 for me. Sergent Doomy Doom, Doomy Doomy Doomy Doom-BOOM! Boooooooom...Dooooom...Doom Boom. Doom Boom. Doom Boom. ☎ 01:51, January 7, 2014 (UTC)
- All moot now as the announcements have been made. I've added the first day of filming and first Capaldi shooting day, and also the date of the readthrough (announced by the official DW Twitter feed from the BBC). 68.146.70.124talk to me 18:28, January 7, 2014 (UTC)
Trailer
I understand we can't upload videos or pictures here, and we can't use the trailer as a source because it is very vague and misleading, but can we add a prominent link to it? I think anyone coming to this page would like to see it. CloneMarshalCommanderCody ☎ 03:54, July 18, 2014 (UTC)
- There are plenty of ways people can find the link without us linking to it. Anyway, it is against Tardis:Video policy (point #6) to link to videos offsite. Shambala108 ☎ 04:09, July 18, 2014 (UTC)
Spoilers
Hey guys :)
I have redacted almost everything posted to this page. Just wanted to remind people of a very basic truth of our spoiler policy. As clearly spelled out in T:SPOIL ALLOW, spoilers are only allowed on the page itself (Series 8 (Doctor Who), and in The Howling. This page that we're currently on, Talk:Series 8 (Doctor Who 2005), is in the talk namespace, and therefore not a place where spoilers are allowed.
Procedural questions are allowed. Asking very general questions about what's allowed, that's cool, too. But if you want to discuss any real specifics about what's allowed on the page, it is generally much, much safer to go to The Howling. That's really the whole point of that namespace. Every post there will be behind a spoiler screen and thus people can decide whether they want to read it.
So a "best practice" would be to:
- Open up a Howling thread on the aspect of this article you would like edited.
- Make sure the title of the thread reveals no spoilers in itself. Choose something generic like "S8 cast list" or "Thoughts on editing the S8 page", or similar.
- Directly contact an admin (or several of us) and say, "Please go to <insert link to Howling thread>. I think series 8 should be edited along the lines I've suggested there. What do you think?"
- Remember that an admin has the right to say, "I'm sorry, the series 8 page doesn't interest me in the slightest. It's not important to me that the page is accurate until the series has actually transmitted. Please ask another admin for help."
This talk page is definitely not where you should list spoilers and then say, "Let's add this to the article". Any spoilers on this site need to be behind a spoiler screen so that users have the choice to avoid them if they wish.
Additionally, almost all of the comments I've deleted from this page today could have been answered by reading T:RUMOUR, T:OFFICIAL INFO and T:SPOIL CREW.

Rumours-section
Now that the page says that Daleks will appear, is it necessary for it to say so in the Rumours-section, or should this be removed? --DCLM ☎ 11:29, August 21, 2014 (UTC)
The source regarding the rumoured return of The Master is completely inaccurate: the website's summary of the previous stories inclusive of the Master combine the plots of Last of the Time Lords and The End of Time, and therefore even as a rumour, the site shouldn't be cited. I'm new to this, and didn't jump in and delete anything because the rumour still exists, but the source isn't reliable. Team Zarbi ☎ 01:05, September 18, 2014 (UTC)
Episode-titles
There is a site that explains what the titles for all the episodes are, and I wouldn't write the titles on the page because I don't know if you consider it reliable. It's called "bbc.co.uk." in the link. --DCLM ☎ 11:41, August 21, 2014 (UTC)
It's as reliable as you can get. Official List from the BBC TheZayxe ☎ 16:21, August 21, 2014 (UTC)
Episode edits
I added an item to the Episode Notes section on the two major edits. I'm aware site rules prohibit explicit details being posted of episodes not yet aired, however as the headline for the Radio Times story linked to does not contain a spoiler, and I refrained from specifying how the journalists were killed, I think it should be safe in the 24 hours left to go before the episode airs. 23skidoo ☎ 16:44, September 5, 2014 (UTC)
Robot of Sherwood
I know this is probably not the place but Robot of Sherwood reminded me of the Robots of Death, i think it's called. Are they the same robots as the story didn't explicitly say where they came from except the 29th century which I think the 4th Doctor said the robots of death came from... 109.145.197.27talk to me 19:45, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
Mummy on the Orient Express
Someone needs to re-edit the block for Mummy on the Orient Express. The unresolved plot point at the end of Series 5 was "an Egyptian goddess loose on the Orient Express." Not a mummy.

New old enemies
Were there any Old Who enemies who made their first reappearance in New Who this season? Otherwise this is the first season not to have a new original series enemy reintroduced, and it should probably be noted in the article. Bathbomber ☎ 04:31, November 9, 2014 (UTC)
