Consular Privilege was an element of the Trakens' sacred law by which a consul could spare one condemned to execution and take them into their custody under their protection, although the consul themself would be executed if the spared broke the law. The other consuls had no right to query its invocation. (TV: The Keeper of Traken)

By 1981, (TV: Logopolis) Consular Privilege had not been invoked for several generations. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Keeper of Traken) Nonetheless, Tremas used it to save the Fourth Doctor and Adric, much to Kassia's chagrin. Katura referred to his invocation as brave and the Doctor told Tremas that he would do his best to repay the compliment. (TV: The Keeper of Traken)
