Over the Rainbow

"Over the Rainbow", also known as "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", was a song that Milo Clancey once sang to himself just before eating a boiled egg for his breakfast aboard the LIZ 79. (TV: The Space Pirates [+]Loading...["The Space Pirates (TV story)"])

Lyrics[[edit] | [edit source]]

According to Clancey, some of the lyrics were:

Somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why, can't I?

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Milo Clancey's rendition of "Over the Rainbow" in The Space Pirates episode two was actually an unscripted ad-lib by Gordon Gostelow.
  • It's unclear whether "Over the Rainbow" was used legally. Obviously, the song would still have been in copyright in 1969, since it was only published in 1939. However, the credits don't include a nod to the song's authors. Still, many songs are used perfectly legally on British television without receiving a credit in the end titles.
