By 1963, George Sinclair had a fiancée, although Helen was unaware of this as the arrangement had been in its early days and they had not told anyone. Her father, a traditionalist, forbade the match after Helen went on the run from the law.

George never found anybody else that was "up to scratch" and died unmarried and childless. He told "Ruth" (who was actually Helen) that she would have liked his former fiancée, saying that everybody did. (AUDIO: Absent Friends)
