Roman Republic

The Roman Republic was a Republic based around Rome prior to the formation of the Roman Empire.

Lucius Cassius Ignotus, born 108 BC, was a Senator of the Roman Republic in 79-61 BC. (PROSE: Of the City of the Saved...)

In 73 BC, the Republic fought a war against a slave uprising led by Spartacus. (PROSE: The Slave War)

In 44 BC, Julius Caesar was made the Dictator of Rome for life. It was the highest office the Roman Republic and was usually only granted for short periods of time during emergencies. (PROSE: State of Change) He was murdered later that year. (PROSE: The Ruby's Curse, The Roundheads)

In 30 BC, Egypt became a province of Rome after it was conquered by Octavian, who later became Augustus, the first emperor of Rome. (PROSE: The Ruby's Curse)

After the fall of the republic, many notable Romans remained republicans, including the Emperor Claudius. (PROSE: Byzantium!)
