The Shakespeare Building, also known as the Theatrology Building, was the home of St Oscar's University's Department of Theatrology, located on Prospero Plaza.
Layout[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Shakespeare Building stood out from the other buildings at St Oscar's, resembling a huge glass cathedral. The main doors were decorated with an image of a mask, one half laughing and the other crying, and could be unlocked using a card-reader. The doors led to an atrium with a glass pyramid ceiling and a brass plaque with the building's name and sponsor. There was a manned information desk and, elsewhere in the building, a number of seminar rooms and offices including Irving Braxiatel's.
At night, the building was mostly dark but had some corridors lit with a red glow. The building was protected with an osmotic shield which could repel fast-moving objects like bullets or missiles. As part of an emergency escape route, however, Braxiatel ensured that slower-moving objects could break the glass and permitted Menlove Stokes to connect the building to its neighbour by a single pipe, enabling him to escape should he ever need to. History[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Shakespeare Building was sponsored and opened by the head of the Department of Theatrology, Irving Braxiatel, which was commemorated with a brass plaque. Bernice Summerfield was amazed when she saw the building whilst cycling through Prospero Plaza for the first time and amused to see the brass plaque in the atrium, having met (PROSE: Dragons' Wrath [+]Loading...["Dragons' Wrath (novel)"]) a different version of Braxiatel previously. Newark Rappare headed to the Shakespeare Building one night to meet with Braxiatel and was murdered in the atrium. The building was cordoned off following the discovery and his body was replaced with a holograph to assist in the investigation. It was at the cordon that this version of Braxiatel met Benny, (PROSE: Dragons' Wrath [+]Loading...["Dragons' Wrath (novel)"]) although one account stated that this was a separate version who met Benny only briefly.
