Prop delete[[edit source]]

Strongly disagree with deletion rationale. I believe "prematurity" works differently for real world people articles than it does for in-universe ones. We can't really say much about in-universe characters before their episode airs, true. And we waste a lot of time by starting story pages prematurely. But once a person has been officially announced by the production team, we can certainly create an article about them. I think this article has gone a little far by naming her character — but her involvement in Torchwood S4 is not in doubt whatsoever. We can take the time prior to broadcast to really investigate her past and beef up what the article says about her career before Torchwood. It takes time to write a real world individual article well. Almost none of it has to do with the content of episodes. Might as well start at the point of an official announcement — so long as we don't say early on what the name of her character is or the name of a particular episode. It's enough to say, "This person was in series [x] of prgramme [y]" in the lead, and then concentrate on what he or she did before their DWU involvement. Then, once we get to air date, we can just fill in the lead with appropriate details, and, presto chango, we'll have a complete article. CzechOut | 18:51, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

I agree with Czech; real people who are officially appearing in an uncoming Whouniverse production in the near future should work differently to characters. Imagine if a Matt Smith page had been held back until The End of Time, rather than when his casting was announced. It would be mad! The page provides useful info for looking up an actress who is soon to be a regular in Torchwood. Therefore I am strongly against the deletion of the page. 82.42.249.145 20:12, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Until the episode airs, the character can be dropped at any point. I'm not saying she will, and I don't think she will, but it is a possibility. They've not even started filming yet, so what if she drops out of it? What if Starz decides to pull out and the series gets cancelled? These are all possibilities in which the page would not be needed. And if it is here, it's just another article that will end up needing altered. Things like categories and such are sometimes changed, and that means going through all the pages with that category. If we leave this here then it will mean that it's another one on top of the list. And if we allow this to be created, we can't object to a large number of the Doctor Who series 6 cast being made, or the SJA series 5, or any others. And that starts to pile on the number of pages we need to look after and maintain. It's just easier to leave it until we actually need it. The Thirteenth Doctor 15:53, January 9, 2011 (UTC)

I agree with the prop delete, allowing this leads us on a slippery slope.
I would also note our Tardis:Spoiler policy "DO NOT create articles relating to in-universe elements or actors who will appear in yet to be broadcast or released stories. This information is often vague, inaccurate or contains spoilers.". --Tangerineduel / talk 16:22, January 9, 2011 (UTC)
