Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:
Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask an admin.
Screenshots
Hi, when uploading screenshots from BBC programmes (such as Doctor Who, The Sarah Jane Adventures or Torchwood) please select the 'BBC screenshots' menus item from the drop down licensing menu, this adds the copyright tag and saves other users from adding it manually later. Additionally if the correct tags are not added at upload the images may be deleting as (when a users comes to tag images they may not know the source) and the only option then is to delete the images. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 13:44, September 16, 2010 (UTC)
- Once more I request that you select a copyright tag upon upload of images, these images may be tagged for deletion if a copyright tag is not selected. --Tangerineduel 14:54, September 17, 2010 (UTC)
Question
Can I just ask why you have my User Name as your name in the Infobox on your User Page? Mini-mitch 20:14, 20 September, 2010 (UTC)
Screenshots - How to add copyright tags
Please see Tardis:How to upload a screenshot with a licensing tag for how to add a licensing tag to an image. Failure to add a copyright tag may result in the image being removed and your edits rolled back. --Tangerineduel 15:50, September 21, 2010 (UTC)
License
When uploading photos, you must select the correct license. As I can see from the above comments, you have failed to do this after been asked on numerous occasions. Do not leave it blank as these images can be deleted. Thanks. Mini-mitch\talk 16:55, March 21, 2011 (UTC)
- This is the last time I'm going to ask you. When you upload any photo you must select a license. If you cannot see the drop down menu to select the appropriate one, tell me and we can sort it. If you continue you ingore these message, action will be taken. Thanks. Mini-mitch\talk 17:11, March 30, 2011 (UTC)
