IndexPanopticon → Welcome message update
Spoilers are strongly policed here.
If this thread's title doesn't specify it's spoilery, don't bring any up.

There was some talk on Tangerineduel's talk page a while back which mentioned the possibility of updating the image in Template:Welcome from that one of the Tenth Doctor to one featuring the Eleventh. Consensus seemed to be there wasn't yet an image available which would be suitably "talking-to-the-viewer." I don't have a recorded copy available just now, but in case others have I'd like to suggest the bit at the beginning of CON: Ship Ahoy! in which Matt Smith, in-character as the Doctor, explains a writing contest for children. He's at the TARDIS console and talking directly to the viewer, I think a comparable image to the one currently in the template can be sourced from it. Rob T Firefly 23:26, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

I know the bit you're talking about and it's possible there is something there. I'm not in any rush, though. I don't think there's any necessity to change the image to the latest Doctor, or for it necessarily to be the Doctor at all. My view is that the image we have now is fine. It conveys the image of welcome better than anything I could imagine. You'd really have to find Matt Smith in exactly the same sorta pose (opening up the TARDIS doors and looking straight down the lens) for the current image to be equalled, I think.
But I'm willing to be persuaded. Let's turn this thread into an audition area. Upload your pics here where we can all take a look and discuss them. For what it's worth, I definitely think the IP welcome picture needs updating. So we do need to find at least one more picture.
