Mr Richards was a former musician in his younger days but as an elderly patient at a hospital in Leeds in 2011 he was a deaf old man. Fortunately when the Eleventh Doctor had caused a Harmonelid to escape from a young boys ear (Danny), the Harmonelid settled in Mr Richards ear where, no longer causing any risk of harm was left to share its music making an old man very happy.
