Quick Reads is the name of a series of original Doctor Who novels, published at the rate of one per year by BBC Books.
Quick Reads books were launched in 2006 as an effort by BBC Books, in conjunction with other partners, to promote reading. Although the cover design has some commonality with the hardbound Doctor Who New Series Adventures, Quick Reads were significantly different in content. They are exclusively published in paperback at a lower cover price than the hardcovers, and they have a much lower page count.
The 2007 release, Made of Steel was notable for being the first piece of original fiction based upon the BBC Wales franchise to be written by Terrance Dicks, a script editor and writer for the original TV series and a prolific writer of Doctor Who prose fiction.
The first Quick Reads featuring the Eleventh Doctor, Magic of the Angels, was released in 2012.
