Riley Vashtee was a crew member of the S.S. Penntallian and helped the rest of the crew mine from the star Torajii, not realising that it was actually an intelligant lifeform. Torajii possesed two crew members in order to destroy the Penntallian, just around the time that the Doctor and Martha Jones showed up and helped them escape the star. Riley fell in love with Martha and let his emotions go when the two were trapped in an escape pod, destined to burn to death, Martha shared Rileys love and the two spent what they thought was there last minutes together. But, the Doctor quickly saved the two lovers and became possesed along the way. Martha and the Doctor saved Riley and , the last crew members and the two time travellers left in The Doctors TARDIS and Riley and went on mining from stars that weren't intelligant.
