For the short story, see Jupiter. For the passenger liner, see The Jupiter.

Jupiter was a gas giant planet located in the Sol system.

History

In the 1970s, English astronaut Guy Crayford was trapped in orbit around Jupiter and rescued by Kraals, who used him as their agent. (DW: The Android Invasion)

It was the sixth planet from Earth's sun. The fifth planet was destroyed by the Time Lords, and its remains create the asteroid field that lies between Mars and Jupiter. A gas giant, Jupiter has immense gravity. The planet has many moons including, in the future, Voga. (PDA: Fear Itself)

At some stage, the Sol system was given a "spring cleaning" which entailed removing most of Jupiter's moons and leaving the largest twelve. (EDA: To the Slaughter)

After drifting through space, the asteroid Voga became trapped in Jupiter's gravity and began orbiting it. Humans named the new moon "Neo-Phobus". (DW: Revenge of the Cybermen)

Josiah W. Dogbolter, at one stage, owned Jupiter, as well as Venus and Mars. (DWM: The Moderator)

The Daleks terraformed Jupiter. (BFDE: Dalek War: Chapter Two, Dalek War: Chapter Three)

A space station near Jupiter was quarantined by Disinfectodroids. (DWA: The Germ War)

Moons of Jupiter

Behind the scenes

  • In Revenge of the Cybermen, dialogue states that Jupiter had twelve moons until the arrival of Voga. As discovered later, Jupiter actually has more than sixty. Therefore, the plot of To the Slaughter explains how, further in the future, Jupiter can only have twelve moons.
