Actors paid not to appear in Doctor Who are those who were cast, properly contracted, and then — for whatever reasons — were not allowed to actually make the episodes for which they were contracted. Knowledge about this type of situation is generally scarce, but does occasionally come to light. Undoubtedly the best-known examples are Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant, who were paid not to appear on Doctor Who in 1985. However, a few other cases are known to exist.
