The daughter of Pete Tyler and Jackie Tyler,Rose grew up with her mother on the Powell Estate in South East London,her father having been killed in a car accident when she was six months old.She left school to live with Jimmy Stone,who subsequently broke her heart and left her £800 in debt,and then moved back in with Jackie,resumed an old relationship with local boy,Mickey Smith,and found a job at Henrik's department store,where she was working as a shop assistant when the Doctor first met her.
