The Master apparently died in the end of Survival. Then in the TV movie, he has still died, but on Skaro by the Daleks. There's probably reasons given in books and audio dramas, but I was wondering, is there really a reason on screen why the Master seemingly died twice with out regenerating? I'm A Hydroponic Tomato! In Survival we don't know what happened to the Master. It is assummed he survived in one form or another, and seeing as his next appearance sported cats-eyes, its assumed that it is probably the same body. The Master had used all his regenerations by the time the Daleks exterminated, and if he was still in Tremas' body he may not have had any regenerative ability at all. He survived somehow, spinoff suggests he consumed a creature that allows him to cheat death, but either way he became the snake morhpant. Taccer 07
Yes, the Master starts off Gallifreyan, then merges with Tremas and becomes Trakenite for a while, but in The Five Doctors he becomes Time Lord again, so he'd have to have had regenerated twelve times before he was executed, so how come he's seemingly still in his Tremas incarnation when he is executed? - One of the theories I've heard (this might have been in The Doctor Who Role Playing Game, which is non-canon) was that the events of Planet of Fire did succeed in restoring the Master's ability to regenerate. As Taccer points out, his fate in Survival is intentionally vague, but the cat's eyes are seen in his next story. Monkey with a Gun 05:21, December 26, 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but my question was: The Master was given a new regeneration cycle in The Five Doctors, but in the TV movie, he is in his last regeneration. The "Tremas" Master is apparently the regeneration that appears in Survival and the start of the TV movie. Does anyone know why the Master goes from being in his first regeneration to last whilst seemingly not changing bodies? I'm A Hydroponic Tomato! Bigredrabbit 10:17, December 27, 2009 (UTC)
Is he actually given a new regeneration cycle in The Five Doctors? The Time Lords say they are going to, but do they actually give it to him before? If not, they may have changed their minds, especially as the Master turns against the Doctors and tries to claim immortality. Also, the new series shows (in Turn Left, and mentioned in the End of Time) that a Time Lord can die if killed before regeneration can take place.--TemporalSpleen 13:52, January 4, 2010 (UTC)
- For an even better example, Last of the Time Lords is explicit about the fact that The Master still has regenerations left, and yet he dies anyway.
- So, if a simple gunshot can (under the right circumstances) irrevocably* kill him, presumably the Daleks, with advanced technology and knowledge of Time Lords, would be able to exterminate him no matter how many regenerations he had left. If worst came to worst, they could just zap him, wait 15 hours, rinse and repeat 11 times.
- \* Of course "irrevocably" does not mean what you think it means. There's always a deathworm, a Time Lord War Council, a cult with a ring and some DNA, whatever Steven Moffat thinks up in 2 years' time, .... --99.157.75.211 03:29, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
