10 Great Digital Watches To Be Won! was a competition printed in Doctor Who Magazine.
The competition was started in DWM 6 where readers were asked to create an original monster and draw it into an illustration of a startled Fourth Doctor at the bottom of the page. Entries could be in ink, paint or crayon but drawings in pencil were prohibited. The section of the page had to be mailed no later than 28 November 1979 and as usual employees of Marvel Comics or the BBC and their relatives were barred from participating.
The prizes consisted of ten digital watches. This competition was mentioned on two occasions by the Fourth Doctor in his A Letter from the Doctor series. It was first teased in the fifth issue's instalment as being featured in the next issue and then in issue 6's instalment where the Doctor explained that as an additional prize he had arranged for the best creations to appear "from time to time" in the upcoming letters column.
The results came in DWM 13 where the ten winners were revealed along with the names and sketches of their creations. In this issue it was stated that the competition had received "thousands" of entries.
