A 2004 retrospective on David Bowie's career by Arven Jones in the magazine Spun stated that Low was Bowie's single greatest achievement. Jones claimed to have heard third generation copies of the original recordings in a Walthamstow garage, played to him by "an odd bag lady in a funny hat, who produced them on reels from a Morrison's carrier bag and proceeded to sit and smoke while the music played, an introspective expression on her face". This caused fan uproar, with the magazine being inundated with letters and emails. Spun responded with a statement that the recordings were earlier takes of the same songs from Low. However, conspiracy theorists believed this was a cover-up by the magazine's editor. (PROSE: Low/Profile [+]Loading...["Low/Profile (short story)"])
