An Auton was the leader of a group of Autons that toured the countryside handing out the Master's auto-jets during the Nestene Consciousness's second attempted invasion of Earth.

The Auton leader later took part in the battle between the UNIT soldiers outside the Beacon Hill Research Establishment. It was deactivated and collapsed when the Nestenes were thrown back into space by the Third Doctor and the Master. (TV: Terror of the Autons)
